Justice is Served

Justice is served when people see clearly
Lessons for which they have not paid too dearly
For if reprimand carries them too much pain
‘Twill kill the will to start again
In better wise than had before
Safer and kinder, what is more

Just because one holds the whip
Palms stilleto swift to slip
Does not mean, though stand to gain
Much from adding to their pain
If they henceforth enabled be
To treat people more decently…
